I read Fifth Business way back in my university days and enjoyed immensely. The Blind Assassin is a more recent read and also enjoyed. I've read both The Handmaid's Tale and The Road. Hope you enjoy them all.
Oh, I just noticed your Trinidad book, A House for Mr. Biswas. Interesting.. touching, depressing, still excellent. For Cuba, I have recently reread Our Man in Havana. Excellent.
I'll have to check out Our Man in Havana, Bill. Thanks for the tip!
I have The Road if you ever want to borrow it. It an Oprah's book club book... supposed to be really good. I havent read it yet but want to someday. Love the new blog. You're so awesome for recording all of this.
This geographical challenge you have given yourself is amazing, Liz. You must have put so very much research into it!
In case you haven't filled some categories, here are some I've read set in various state of the US.
For New York state - A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly - really a YA but I read it twice. About a murder at a summer inn.
For California or Colorado (set in both places)
Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner. (one of my all time favorite books)
I watch both Lonesome Dove and Return to Lonesome Dove movies when I'm really tired. They force me to lie down and rest. Love them.
